- Ultra Grade St Thomas Mushroom (Discosoma sanctithomae)
St Thomas Mushrooms (Discosoma sanctithomae), often referred to as St Thomas Ricordea or St Thomas Mushroom Anemones, are beautiful and highly desirable corallimorphs known for their vibrant colours and distinctive bubble-like vesicles. These unique mushrooms combine the appearance of a traditional mushroom coral with raised, bubble-like textures that give them a striking three-dimensional look.
- Colour & Appearance
St Thomas Mushrooms display a wide range of stunning colours including vibrant oranges, reds, greens, purples and multi-colour variations. Many specimens feature bright vesicles or contrasting patterns across the disc, creating a visually dramatic appearance. Under blue spectrum lighting, their colours often fluoresce intensely, making them stand out beautifully within the reef aquarium.
- Placement & Flow Requirements
Discomosa sanctithomae thrive under low to moderate lighting and prefer gentle to moderate, indirect water flow. Best placed on lower rockwork or areas with slightly reduced lighting. Avoid strong, direct flow which can cause the mushroom to retract.
- Care Level & Compatibility
St Thomas Mushrooms are generally considered hardy and adaptable, making them suitable for a wide range of reef aquariums. With stable water conditions, they can slowly spread and form attractive clusters over time.
