Cleaner Wrasse – Labroides dimidiatus

A fascinating and highly active reef fish, the Cleaner Wrasse is best known for its natural cleaning behaviour, where it removes parasites, dead tissue and debris from other fish. Its slender body, bold black stripe and blue-white colouration make it a distinctive and elegant addition to the marine aquarium.

Cleaner Wrasse are peaceful, active swimmers and are generally reef safe with corals and invertebrates. They are best kept in mature aquariums with a good population of fish, as they naturally spend much of their time interacting with tank mates. Care should be taken with very shy or delicate fish, as persistent cleaning behaviour may occasionally irritate them.

This species can be challenging long term, as some individuals are reluctant to accept prepared foods. Offer a varied diet including enriched mysis, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, high-quality frozen foods and small marine pellets. Choosing a specimen already feeding well is strongly recommended.

A beautiful and purposeful wrasse for a stable, well-stocked marine aquarium, offering constant movement, character and natural behaviour.
