- Green Candy Cane Coral (Caulastrea furcata)
Green Candy Cane corals (Caulastrea furcata) are a classic and highly popular large polyp stony (LPS) coral, loved for their bright colouration and distinctive rounded heads. Each polyp forms a plump, candy-like structure, giving the colony its recognisable “candy cane” appearance.
- Colour & Appearance
These beautiful specimens display vibrant green centres surrounded by lighter outer rings, creating strong contrast across each head. Under blue spectrum lighting, the green pigments glow intensely, giving the coral a bright, fluorescent look that stands out beautifully in the reef aquarium.
- Placement & Flow Requirements
Green Candy Canes thrive under low to moderate lighting and prefer gentle to moderate, indirect water flow.
Avoid strong, direct flow which can cause tissue retraction.
Best placed on stable rockwork in lower to mid areas of the aquarium where they can expand comfortably.
- Care Level & Compatibility
Caulastrea corals are considered very hardy, making them an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced reef keepers. They benefit from occasional feeding of small meaty foods which can encourage growth and new head formation.
