Green Ember Acropora (Acropora sp.)

The Green Ember Acropora is a distinctive SPS coral with a glowing green base and darker branching structure, highlighted by bright, contrasting growth tips. Under blue reef lighting, the base gives off a vivid green fluorescence, while the upper branches create a deeper, shadowed contrast.

Key Information

Type: SPS Coral
Care Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Lighting: High
Flow: Medium to High
Placement: Upper reef

Description

This Acropora forms a compact branching colony with thick upright growth and textured corallites along the branches. The bright green lower growth stands out strongly under reef lighting, giving the coral a glowing foundation, while the darker upper branches add depth and contrast.

As it matures, the Green Ember Acropora develops into a bold, structured colony with excellent vertical shape. The combination of fluorescent green tissue, darker branch colouration, and bright growth tips gives it a striking appearance in SPS-dominated reef aquariums.

Water Parameters

Temperature: 24–26°C
Salinity: 1.025
Alkalinity: 7.5–9 dKH
Calcium: 400–450 ppm

Feeding

Primarily photosynthetic, but may benefit from occasional supplemental feeding, including:

Amino acids
Fine particulate coral foods
Broadcast coral feeding

Compatibility

Reef safe. Allow space from neighbouring corals to prevent shading, crowding, and competition as the colony grows.

Notes

Best suited to mature, stable reef aquariums with strong lighting and consistent water parameters. Like most Acropora, the Green Ember Acropora is sensitive to sudden changes in alkalinity, nutrients, lighting, and flow, but will reward stable care with strong growth, colouration, and polyp extension.
