Juvenile Blue-Spotted Bristletooth Tang – Ctenochaetus marginatus

An extremely rare and attractive juvenile bristletooth tang, the Blue-Spotted Bristletooth Tang displays beautiful warm orange to yellow juvenile colouration, often with fine blue detailing developing across the body and fins. As it matures, Ctenochaetus marginatus gradually develops the darker adult appearance, with fine blue spotting across the body and elegant blue striping through the fins.

This species is best suited to a mature marine aquarium with plenty of live rock, natural grazing surfaces and open swimming space. Like other bristletooth tangs, it spends much of its time browsing film algae, detritus and natural growth from the rockwork, making it both an active display fish and a useful grazer.

Generally reef safe with corals and most invertebrates, although it may become territorial towards similar-shaped tangs or other surgeonfish as it matures. Offer a varied diet including marine algae, nori, spirulina-based foods, quality pellets and enriched frozen foods to support healthy growth, colour development and long-term condition.

A beautiful and unusual juvenile tang with excellent colour potential, developing from its bright orange/yellow juvenile form into a refined blue-spotted adult.
