Radiant Wrasse – Halichoeres iridis
 
A beautifully elegant and active wrasse, the Radiant Wrasse is a superb choice for adding colour, movement and natural character to the marine aquarium. With its rich orange-red body, contrasting green and blue facial markings and graceful swimming behaviour, Halichoeres iridis is one of the most attractive and refined wrasse species available to reef keepers.
 
This species is generally peaceful and can be a valuable addition to a mature reef system, often spending its time actively hunting across the rockwork for small pests, worms and natural microfauna. It is considered reef safe with corals, although like many wrasse it may take an interest in very small ornamental invertebrates.
 
Best kept in a stable, established aquarium with plenty of live rock, open swimming space and a sand bed, as it will bury itself at night or when startled. A tight-fitting lid is essential, as wrasse are known jumpers. Feed a varied diet of enriched frozen foods, mysis, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood and quality marine pellets to maintain colour, condition and long-term health.
