The Rainbow Globular Yuma (Ricordea yuma) is a striking, highly sought after corallimorph prized for its intense colouration and distinctive bubble-like vesicles. Its rounded, globular surface is covered in textured nodules that give it a three-dimensional, almost jewel-like appearance, making it a standout addition to any reef aquarium.
 
Colour & Appearance
True to its name, the Rainbow Globular Yuma displays a vibrant mix of colours — often blending neon greens, oranges, pinks, blues and purples within a single specimen. Under blue spectrum lighting, its fluorescence intensifies dramatically, highlighting the contrasting mouth and raised vesicles for exceptional visual impact.
 
Placement & Flow Requirements
Ricordea yuma prefers low to moderate lighting and gentle water flow. Avoid strong, direct flow, as this can cause the coral to detach or remain retracted. Best positioned on lower rockwork or in sheltered areas where it can expand comfortably. Stable placement allows the Yuma to fully inflate and display its characteristic texture.
 
Care Level & Compatibility
Suitable for aquarists of varying experience levels, Rainbow Yumas thrive in stable reef conditions. While generally peaceful, they should be given adequate space to prevent contact with more aggressive corals.
