Toxic Glacier Acropora (Acropora sp.)

The Toxic Glacier Acropora is a vibrant SPS coral with a bold green glow and chunky, frosted growth tips. Under blue reef lighting, its bright green colouration gives it an intense, almost toxic appearance, while the paler tips add contrast and depth.

Key Information

Type: SPS Coral
Care Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Lighting: High
Flow: Medium to High
Placement: Upper reef

Description

This Acropora forms thick, branching growth with rounded tips and a textured surface covered in dense corallites. Its green colouration stands out strongly under reef lighting, giving the coral a bright, luminous look that makes it a striking feature in an SPS collection.

As it matures, the Toxic Glacier Acropora develops into a compact branching colony with strong structure and excellent visual impact. The combination of glowing green tissue,

lighter growth tips, and textured branches gives it a crisp, frozen appearance with a vivid toxic-green edge.

Water Parameters

Temperature: 24–26°C
Salinity: 1.025
Alkalinity: 7.5–9 dKH
Calcium: 400–450 ppm

Feeding

Primarily photosynthetic, but may benefit from occasional supplemental feeding, including:

Amino acids
Fine particulate coral foods
Broadcast coral feeding

Compatibility

Reef safe. Allow space from neighbouring corals to prevent shading, crowding, and competition as the colony grows.

Notes

Best suited to mature, stable reef aquariums with strong lighting and consistent water parameters. Like most Acropora, the Toxic Glacier Acropora is sensitive to sudden changes in alkalinity, nutrients, lighting, and flow, but will reward stable care with strong colouration, growth, and polyp extension.
