True Red Globular Yuma – “Show Grade” (Ricordea yuma)
The True Red Globular Yuma – “Show Grade” (Ricordea yuma) is an exceptionally rare and highly sought-after specimen, celebrated for its deep, authentic red colouration and bold globular texture. Large, richly inflated vesicles cover the disc, creating a striking three-dimensional appearance that immediately commands attention.
- Colour & Rarity
True red Yumas of this calibre are extremely difficult to source, particularly in show-grade form. This is the first time we have managed to secure pieces like these in a very long time — in fact, we genuinely cannot remember the last time they were available to us.
Under blue spectrum lighting, the intense red pigments glow with remarkable depth, often complemented by subtle contrasting tones around the mouth and vesicles. Each specimen is unique, with rich saturation that sets it apart from more common colour morphs.
- Placement & Flow Requirements
Ricordea yuma prefers low to moderate lighting and gentle, indirect water flow. Avoid strong flow, as this can cause retraction or detachment. Best positioned on stable lower rockwork where it can fully inflate and display its globular form.
- Care Level & Compatibility
Suitable for established reef systems, this show-grade Yuma is relatively hardy when maintained in stable conditions. Provide adequate space from aggressive corals to prevent irritation.
- Water Parameters
Temperature: 24–26°C
Salinity: 1.024–1.026 SG
Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
Calcium: 400–450 ppm
Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
- Summary
With its exceptional size, true red saturation and rarity, this “Show Grade” Globular Yuma represents a premium collector’s piece — a standout addition for reef keepers seeking something genuinely uncommon and unforgettable.
