Twin Spot Wrasse – Coris aygula

A striking and active wrasse, the Twin Spot Wrasse is a beautiful species with bold juvenile markings and a confident, energetic swimming style. As it matures, Coris aygula develops into a much larger, more powerful fish, making it best suited to spacious marine aquariums with plenty of open swimming room and a deep sand bed for sleeping and security.

This species is best kept by experienced marine keepers, as it can become boisterous with age and may not be suitable for delicate reef systems. It may disturb sand, move small pieces of rock or coral rubble, and can prey on smaller ornamental invertebrates such as shrimp, crabs and snails.

Best housed in a large, mature aquarium with stable water conditions, secure rockwork and a tight-fitting lid, as wrasses are known jumpers. Feed a varied meaty diet including mysis, krill, chopped seafood, enriched frozen foods and quality marine pellets to maintain colour, condition and long-term health.
